Soy products at the Anuga 2005

anuga and soyThe Anuga is an important trade fair for the world of food and beverages. The Anuga, which is always held in Cologne (Germany) took place from 8th to 12th October 2005. At the Anuga exhibitors and visitors from almost every country in the world meet to discuss business and make international contacts. Many new products where presented at the Anuga but following exhibitors attracted our attention:
  • Lactasoy
Lactasoy was founded by Mr. Viriya Chiraphadhankul who has been a successful producer of soft drinks in Thailand for over 50 years. The company's major breakthrough came 22 years ago with the introduction of their own brand Lactasoy soymilk. Lactasoy is a recognized market giant with prominent media presence. It has a nationwide distribution network and bustling sales throughout Thailand and Indochina.
lactasoyLactasoy presented several products at the Anuga. Lactasoy original formula is actually a combination of soy and dairy. We find the combination a bit strange but taste was very good. The other soy milks, such as Natural Soymilk and Chocolate Flavoured Soymilk where also very nice. Unique was their Lactasoy Plus Green Tea flavour. In the Far East, people are more aware of the health benefits of herbs and plants. They are more open to such ideas. This new flavour provides another choice of healthy drink that combine the best of both worlds: soy nutrition and the benefits of green tea. In the Far East, people are more aware of the health benefits of herbs and plants. They are more open to such ideas. We tasted this product and found the taste interesting but too sweet. The tea flavour is very strong and dominant, especially in the aftertaste. These are the ingredients of the Lactasoy Plus Green Tea: water, soybeans, sugar, vegetable fat and green tea powder.

  • ASSOY
ASSOY (Soybean Processors' Association) is situated in the South of Russia. It consists of enterprises specializing in processing of soybeans and other oil seeds. Assoy specialises in manufacturing of high quality soy products including soymilk, tofu, okara, soy milk powder, soy protein, soybean oil, soybean nuts and soy mayonnaise. The soy mayonnaise consists of vegetable oil, soybean powder, sugar, salt, soda, mustard powder and vinegar.
Assoy produces soybean processing equipment for small to large producers of soy milk. Assoy had a small soy milk machine at their stand and the soy milk we tasted had a nice full taste with no beany off-flavours. The small machine (Soyushka-2) produces 60 liter/h of soy milk and is ideal for small food processors, shops, canteens, cafes and restaurants. The bigger machines are: Soyushka-3 (100 liter/h of soy milk), UPSO-300 (300 liter/h of soy milk) and continious systems up to 6000 liter/h of soy milk.

  • SOYATOO!
Soyatoo is the first company to launch real cream, which can be whipped just like normal cream without the help of additives. Soyatoo is made from soy milk and vegetable fats and contains only 11% fat, as opposed to 25% to 40% for dairy cream. In addition, Soyatoo is cholesterol free, lactose free and organic. • Good Hope
Good Hope International Beverages (PTY) Ltd is a South African company, which mainly produces fruit juices but has recently developed and launched innovative products based on soybeans. Their products are sold in more than 40 countries.
We tasted their soy milk and it had a surprisingly nice taste. It was very creamy and without any beany taste. The soy milk is made from organic and GMO-free soybeans.
Very innovative are their soy protein bars. These bars are delicious tasting with nice chunks of fruits. They are available in 6 different varieties: men’s bar, women’s bar, kids bar, sports bar, booster bar and stress bar. The soy bars are free from dairy and gluten. With a high protein content of 6,25 g per bar they contribute to help reduce cholesterol.
Even more innovative are their soy chocolate bars. Every bar of 75 g contains 33 g of soy protein and the taste is very close to normal chocolate. Very nice tasting product!
