Guava smoothie

Ingredients

1 ripe guava, cut in pieces
200 ml soy milk
2 tablespoon sugar
2 ice cubes
1 lime

Servings: 2



Recipe directions

Add the guava pieces to the soy milk and blend. Pass this mixture through food mill or strain the guava through a corse sieve using a wooden spoon. Discard the guava pips and peels.
Add the lime juice, sugar and ice cubes and blend again to obtain smooth mixture.
Poor the guava smoothie in glasses. Decorate the glasses with a slice of lime. Serve immediately with a straw.

Ripe guavas are soft with a creamy texture. The flesh of the guava may be white, pink, yellow or red. Guava has a typical musky odor.
Not many people know, but fresh guava is very rich in vitamin C, almost 6 times more than oranges. Fresh guava contains per 100 g: 273 mg vitamin C, 5.2 g fibers and 290 mg potassium.
Guava is used as a natural medicine to treat diarrhea by people who live in the tropics. There are also indications that the consumption of guava may reduce cholesterol.
